Breakfast IS the Best

With school starting, it’s not a bad idea to start creating healthy breakfast habits.
Breakfast has always been known to be the most important meal of the day. Unfortunately, mornings can be the most hectic time of the day for the family...getting the kids up, getting everyone dressed appropriately, making lunches, packing backpacks with homework, and oh, making and eating breakfast. Does this sound familiar?

The bad news is that in most families that first thing to be forgotten is breakfast. But, if breakfast is truly the most important part of the day, shouldn't it be our healthiest? A healthy breakfast includes: protein, starch, natural sugar (think fruit NOT Fruit Loops) and healthy fats. Fortunately, there are more healthier less sugary cereals available for your family that actually taste good. Don't only limited your cereal to cold ones either. Oatmeal is loaded with nutrients and helps suppress your appetite until lunch time. Also, think about a bowl of yogurt with fresh fruit and granola.

If the student starts the day with a breakfast, then they have the energy to learn. There have been many studies done that have found that students who eat breakfast tend to have higher attendance, are more punctual, pay far more attention in class and breeze through standardized tests with flying colors (Two studies from Tuft University and Hebrew University).

The good news for the busy families are that fast-food chains such as Chick-fil-A offer great healthy breakfast items such as Multigrain Oatmeal. If you forget to eat breakfast, run through the nearest drive-thru and pick up some healthy breakfast food.
Fortunately, three lucky winners will receive a coupon for a FREE coffee and FREE Multigrain Oatmeal. Comment below what's your favorite breakfast menu item is from Chick-fil-A. You can also enter by following Real Posh Mom and tweet the giveaway. Make sure to include @realposhmom and @Chickfila_DFW in your tweet. The giveaway will end September 12.

A well rounded breakfast is the key to starting your day off right, whether your child's goal is acing a test, completing a task, watching weight or just living life to its fullest.
