As many people are turning to downloading music to their smartphones, the market for portable Bluetooth speakers is growing more competitive by the day. Beacon Audio presented me with The Phoenix to rock out this holiday season.
The Beacon Audio Phoenix resembles the size of a 1980's Rubik's cube - about 3 inches tall, wide and deep. ;) It's definitely a lot easier to stuff in a backpack or a messenger bag on the go and takes up less physical space when in use. The great part is that it comes with a black case to protect it when you are on-the-go. The Phoenix comes in yellow, hot pink, red, blue or black.
The Phoenix puts out pretty crisp audio. It is made with strong quality, and the soft-feel matte finish plastic gives it a posh look. There's also the nice little platform the whole enclosure sits on, to increase speaker isolation and allow some bass out.
Honestly, The Phoenix is worth $100, especially considering the quality of the sound it puts out. It is a great gift for your music lover in your life. My only complain is with the buttons that seem counterintuitive. Good news is once you've set the volume at what level you'd like, you won't have to fidget with it much. ;) Around this price point and size, I can't think of something that sounds better than The Phoenix. It does what it promises, and it does it very well.
Note: If you have a music lover on-the-go, consider Beacon Audio's Orion. Click here for more details.
