IHOP Makes Breakfast Simple...And Fit

A couple years back, International House of Pancakes aka IHOP teamed up with Healthy Dining to make nutrition information available to customers looking for more information about the meals they order. With much success of their helpful nutrition tools and even more lower-calorie options, IHOP has added several new items to its SIMPLE & FIT menu - all under 600 calories!
  • IHOP’s Whole Wheat Waffle with Blueberries includes one whole wheat waffle topped with lightly sweetened blueberries and powdered sugar and accompanied by a lemon wedge for a squeeze of fresh flavor.  It's served with egg substitute and 2 strips of turkey bacon.
  • IHOP’s Whole Wheat Pancakes with Blueberries includes 2 whole wheat pancakes topped with lightly sweetened blueberries and powdered sugar and accompanied by a lemon wedge for a squeeze of fresh flavor.  It'served with egg substitute and 2 strips of turkey bacon.
  • IHOP's Banana and Brown Sugar Oatmeal features toasted Quaker Oats lightly sweetened with cinnamon sugar and topped with bananas.
  • IHOP's Super Fruit Oatmeal features toasted Quaker Oats lightly sweetened with cinnamon sugar and topped with a blend of 5 dried super fruits – blueberries, dark cherries, cranberries, raisins and golden raisins.  IHOP’s Super Fruit Oatmeal is also available with almonds and walnuts.
IHOP also offers more than 30 SIMPLE & FIT under 600 calorie selections including every item on the Just for Kids menu, as well as a number of tips on how to enjoy lower calorie versions of IHOP classics. Here are my other favorites:
  • SIMPLE & FIT Blueberry Harvest Grain ‘N Nut Combo – Two Harvest Grain ‘N Nut pancakes loaded with blueberries and topped with fresh slices of banana. Served with scrambled egg substitute.
  • SIMPLE & FIT Spinach, Mushroom & Tomato Omelette – Made with fresh spinach, mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese, and is topped with diced tomatoes.
I am giving a lucky reader a $50 IHOP gift card. Comment below what's you are doing to stay healthy. You can also enter by following Real Posh Mom and tweeting the giveaway. Make sure to include @realposhmom and #breakfastlove in your tweet. The giveaway will end October 26, 2012.

Disclosure: IHOP gave me a gift card to try out the Simple & Fit menu items. However, my opinions are entirely my own, and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.

  1. My motto is "Where there is input, there must be output", meaning eat healthy and get exercise. The mornings are cool enough (finally!) to walk with my youngest, Sat mornings are spent at the park/playground, and eating tons of fresh produce and lean meats. "Shop the perimeter at grocery stores", and most likely you'll hit the good, non-processed foods - produce, dairy, meats, grains. Happy to hear IHOP is giving healthier options!

I take my little one Alyse on long walks as often as possible and try to remember that the food choices I make will be a model for the food choices she makes!

  3. Healthy snacks on hand! Planning ahead for those moments when I've just got to snack on something keeps me away from the vending machine or the ice cream in the freezer. Even if the snack is little, individually packaged snacks that are not necessarily healthy, the portion control is still a good thing!
