Hydration Alternative to GMO'ed Pedialyte

My poor little posh boy was sick for the first time last week. I have heard that Pedialyte was just what "the doctor ordered" to help prevent dehydration. I was double checking the ingredients like I always do, and I was so angry at the horrible ingredients! Here are the ingredients in the strawberry flavor: Water, dextrose, citric acid, potassium citrate, sodium chloride, sodium citrate, natural flavor, sucralose, acesulfame potassium, zinc gluconate, RED 40, BLUE 1. Dextrose is usually made from corn starch, which brings to mind GMOs, pesticides, etc. Sucralose...*sigh* Do I even have to say anything about this ingredient?! I would NEVER want anyone I love to ingest that.

Once I got over the shock of the chemicals that were put in a children's liquid, I realized that the answer is COCONUT WATER! I had it at home all this time, so I left the store and immediately went home. Coconut water has electrolyte content and rehydrating properties, and it is posh kid approved. Did you know that there is 100x more potassium in coconut water than Gatorade?!

We stick mainly stick with plain water in his sippy cup, but if I feel a warm forward or hear a cough, we'll be sticking with the coconut water! When he gets old enough, I highly recommend Whole Foods 365 Brand Ginger Ale. Don't drink it all at once, but take little sips until you or your child's tummy feels better.

I hope this helps, and don't forget to read labels before you give to your kids!
